At Fresh Roots Greenhouse, the importance of food safety is central to the production methods used to grow and harvest our "Living Nutrients." Our facility finished greenhouse construction in December 2017. In January 2018, the hydroponic equipment was assembled for initiation of commercial production. Food safety will be part of the growing techniques right from the start complying with the Food Safety Modernization Act. An important part of food safety is the training of the staff growers and the adherence to safety procedures when handling produce. Local and State certifications for food safety quality certification was pursued and granted in September 2018 as can be seen from the Certificate of Compliance from the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture.
